CONCERT PIANIST
Albert Mamriev is an internationally acclaimed pianist whose artistic career has taken him to concert stages across Europe, North America and Asia. Equally at home in solo recitals, performances with symphony orchestras and chamber music, he has developed an extensive repertoire embracing the great masterpieces of piano literature, major concertos and works spanning different musical periods and traditions.
Throughout his international career, Mamriev has performed with orchestras including the Utah Symphony, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Beijing Symphony Orchestra and Israel Chamber Orchestra. His concert programmes combine established masterpieces with lesser-known compositions, reflecting a broad musical curiosity and an individual approach to interpretation.
A significant achievement in his exploration of contemporary music was the world premiere of Israeli composer Ami Maayani's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, performed on 23 May 2006 at Beijing's Forbidden City Concert Hall with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Tan Lihua. The performance was met with great acclaim and represents an important chapter in Mamriev's commitment to bringing new musical works to international audiences.
Chamber music holds an essential place in Mamriev's artistic life. His musical partners have included Fabrizio Meloni, principal clarinetist of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, distinguished violinists Dmitry Kogan and Mariusz Patyra, as well as members of the Szymanowski Quartet, with whom he performed a piano trio by Israeli composer Ami Maayani. These collaborations reflect his longstanding dedication to the art of musical dialogue.
A distinctive chapter of Mamriev's artistic career is his exploration of the music of Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt. His Wagner-inspired concert journey began at Haus Wahnfried, Richard Wagner's former residence in Bayreuth, with a programme devoted to Liszt's piano transcriptions of Wagner's music. This artistic exploration gradually developed into an international concert project encompassing 165 performances.
Over the years, Mamriev expanded this repertoire beyond Liszt's transcriptions, developing his own piano arrangements of Wagner's music, including the Wesendonck Lieder, music from Siegfried, and the complete Symphony in C major. Through these works, he continues the great tradition of piano transcription, exploring the expressive possibilities of the instrument and revealing new dimensions of Wagner's vocal and orchestral writing.
Mamriev's musical education began with his father, Yankel Mamriev, an accomplished musician and Honoured Teacher of the Republic of Dagestan. His first and most formative teacher, Yankel Mamriev devoted his life to his son's musical education, nurturing his talent from an early age and laying the foundations of his artistic development.
Albert Mamriev continued his studies at the prestigious Moscow Central Music School and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, followed by the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University and advanced solo studies at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover. His principal teachers included Alexander Bakulov, Sergey Dorensky and Arie Vardi.
